The previous social meetups have been enjoyable events and are proving really useful for the individuals that turn up. The places on these social events are all being booked up as well – so if you can make it grab a place before its gone. – This next social event will be held on the 24th March.

This event is a casual social for writers who wish to meet other writers in a friendly atmosphere.

This meetup could be a spring-board for creating relationships with writers that you find common interests with, and potentially for feedback, support, brainstorming and all other matters that relate to writing.

There is no agenda, but to help guide the conversation for this meetup – please consider the three points below for discussion:

1. What writing are you working on?
2. When do you hope to have it finished by?
3. What are your next steps?

————————–

The plan is to create a mastermind group or potentially several mastermind groups could sprout from this meetup (and repeat meetups like it). —

Although this is meetup is not a mastermind group itself, but a pre-cursor to meeting other writers..

————————-

The word “mastermind” was coined by Napoleon Hill in the 1920s. Hill believed that when two people come together to solve a problem, their combined wisdom forms a “mastermind.”

He urged budding entrepreneurs to form mastermind groups (or “alliances”, as he called them) where they could keep each other accountable to their goals and give each other advice about their projects.

The Inklings is one of the best-known mastermind groups formed by writers. Headed by C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, the group gathered on Thursday evenings at Lewis’s rooms in Magdalen College. Later on, they would also meet for lunch at a local Oxford pub called The Eagle and Child.

The members of the group came together to share ideas and receive feedback on the latest drafts of their novels. Tolkien, for example, read aloud from a manuscript that would eventually become The Lord of the Rings.
