Screen WritingThe Writers Initiative latest workshop will focus on Screenwriting:

In this up close and personal DEEP DIVE creative writing workshop, we will be going into details of how to write a great screenplay as well as the steps to take to develop your career as a screenwriter.

We will cover such topics as what makes a story cinematic, how to plan/structure your script, how to make your script stand out, how to find others (directors, producers, actors, etc.) to work with you on your project, what is the screenwriter’s role in the actual filming process, and even a little bit about how to get on-set experience (and why this can be extremely helpful). We will also talk about ongoing strategies for the development of your creativity and your writing career. You will leave this workshop with a clear idea of what to do next, and how to do it!

This workshop is perfect for writers of all levels of experience who want to know more about screenwriting and what sets it apart from other creative writing forms. Complete beginners are more than welcome, as well as those with a bit more experience!

Your host Maria, the writer behind such films as He Took His Skin Off For Me and The Director, will be sharing numerous tips, tricks, and personal insights that are going to help you feel more confident in your ability to take on the screenwriting form as well as the wider world of film-making. Bring your notebook, computer, screenwriting ideas (if any), questions to ask, and a willingness to play and explore!

The Workshop will be held on 28th March from 4 pm for a 4:05ish start. The meetup will be conducted on Zoom. Any questions about Zoom, just ask! There are no refunds available for this event, but if something happens on the day please get in touch, we may be able to give you a place on a different workshop at a later date.
